Roman Holiday...Day 6

 We got up early and took a train to Florence.  We had been there before, but it was one of our favorite places, so we couldn't pass up going again.  Especially since it was only an 1 1/2 hour train ride away.  We spent the day looking at the architecture, sculptures, jewelry market and leather market.

Florence is known for its leather market.  So many awesome leather goods there.  You name it, they had it.  Loved all the colors and smell of leather.  The streets are absolutely busting with leather vendors.  Needless to say, I did some damage here.  We met some really nice guys at one of the shops.  One of the brothers was studying architecture, so he loved looking through Josh's sketchbook.  They kept talking about how much they loved America even though they had never been there.  Pretty funny.  We had a lot of fun chatting and joking around with them.

We then headed down to the Duomo to take in the sights and some pictures.

We then headed to the piazza for lunch.  I got a ham and mushroom pizza....yummy.

We then strolled down to Piazza Di S. Lorenzo and the Uffizi gallery area.  Didn't go into the Uffizi.  It was crazy busy, but kind of wish we would have now.

 Florence is also known for its jewelry stores.  This bridge, called Ponte Vecchio, houses all the jewelry shops.  It's pretty neat to walk through, although I didn't buy any of the expensive jewelry.  Lots of gold.

So, we decided to take a modus studio koozie with us to Italy so we could get some pics of everywhere modus has been.  A little silly, but we had fun with it. ha!

 We took the train back to Rome that night to get ready for our next adventure to the Cinque Terre.
