Funny Friday!

I can't believe I almost forgot to post this today!  So, before I go out on a date with my husband,(thanks Mimi for watching the boys!) I am going to fill you in with our funnies for the past 2 weeks.

One of the fun things we have discovered recently are the race car shopping carts at Home Depot.  If you have little boys, this is the place to go for cheap, fun entertainment.  I put the boys in the cart that are souped up to look like a Nascar race car.  The loved it that they got to turn the steering wheels.  I made it even more fun by making a race out of it while we were in the store.  I must have been quite the site running around pushing this cart yelling, "Here comes a corner boys! Turn! Turn!"  The look on their faces was priceless!  They really thought they were in control of the cart and were trying to turn those steering wheels as fast as they could.  I'm not sure how long we were in there racing, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one getting a kick out of watching the boys.  We blessed several employees there with a good laugh as well!  Definitely a place we will go back to!

One day while at Courtney's house on a Monday, Collin goes up to Courtney and says, "This has gone pretty good today.  It's been a good day!"

One morning the boys woke me up rather early and I commented, "Why don't you boys like to sleep in till like 8?"  Collin quickly replied, "No!  That would take like ALL day!"  Guess they were just trying to make the most of it. :-)

Josh said to Collin one day, "Hey bud, we need to cut your hair."  Collin says, "No, I'm growing it out to look like a rockstar.....flat on the sides and spikey on top."

Carter came up to me one day after Collin scared him with a toy and said, "Mommy, bro-bro scare me death!"

Carter's new favorite phrase is "pretty cool".  If there is something he really likes, he will be sure to let you know he thinks its "pretty cool".

My favorite for the week....

I was having a conversation with my parents about a place I had been recently and said, "Yeah, it was so funny because there were all these little old men walking around with handle-bar mustaches."  Collin looks at us all very perplexed and says, "There were mustaches walking around??!"  After I realized how I worded my comment, we all just busted up laughing.  I love that boy! :-)

Pa-Pa's Farmhands

Anytime we make a trip to my parents' farm, no one gets more attention than Pa-Pa.  I guess it could be the cows, the 4-wheeler, the creek to throw rocks in, or the tractors he has to entertain 3 little boys.  You just can't compete with that!  I don't ever hear Pa-Pa complain about all the attention either.  The boys all insisted on wearing Pa-Pa's signature farm hat along with farm boots.  Another farmhand will soon be in the mix when Courtney's little guy, Hayes, gets here later this summer!

Got Worms??

The boys' new favorite thing to do is dig for worms.  Definitely not my thing, but it does keep them entertained for endless amounts of time.  Little boys definitely love to get dirty!

I can't say enough how MUCH I love these two little guys.  Collin and Carter, you fill my days with love, laughter, fights, light saber wars, hugs and kisses.  I cherish these moments with you and am so blessed to be your mommy.  Thank you for being such great little boys, and I look forward to seeing the great men you become......just not too quickly. :-)

We had a great mother's day going to church and then that evening we headed out to the lake and had a cookout and did some fishing.  It was a great day!

A Day at the Zoo

The boys and I ventured over to the Gentry Zoo a couple of weeks ago when it was nice outside.  We only live about 20 minutes from there, so its always a nice little excursion for us.  The boys absolutely love getting up close with all the animals.  Collin's favorite of the day was the rhino and Carter said his favorite were the kitty cats.....no, we aren't talking about tigers.....he actually likes the little kittens out of all the big animals at the zoo.....go figure. :-)

The zoo has a drive-thru portion which we did first.  Then we went to the petting zoo part.  We went at the perfect time because the animals were just getting fed, so they were all really close to us.

Funny Friday!

The other day, I was sitting here thinking about how much times have changed since I was a little girl Collin's age (4) in 1982.  It got me thinking and chuckling about all the things I hear him say/do now that you would have not heard me doing back in 1982, so I decided to use that as my inspiration for today's post.

Then vs. Now.....things Collin Says/Does that you wouldn't have heard me say/do in 1982....

1.  "Dad, can I play with the Ipad?"

2.  "Mom, can I see your phone?  I want to text."

3.  "Look mommy!  This potty's magic!"...."Look mommy!  This sink is magic!"...."Look mommy!  This soap is magic!"...."Look mommy!  These paper towels are magic!" (Collin referring to all the "touch-free" modern conveniences in the public restrooms.) :-)

4.  Watching DVD's......VHS tapes are pretty much extinct now

5.  "Mom, I need my lightsaber!"....ok....there were probably lightsabers in 1982, but i wasn't playing with them.....too busy with Barbie's, Cabbage Patch Kids, Care Bears, etc...

6.  "Mom, can I play swordfighting on the Wii?".....man how video games have changed!  I didn't even get my first Nintendo system until I was in the 4th grade and now my 4 year old can run one.....crazy.

7.  "Mom, can I go recycle this?"....pretty funny, but Collin loves to throw things in the recycle bin for me.  I don't even think I knew the word "recycle" growing up.

8.  I remember when cartoons were only on Saturday mornings.  Now my kids can watch them every day 24/7!  It's nice, but doesn't make Saturday mornings special like they used to be.  And no, I don't let my kids watch cartoons all the time. :-)

9.  "Mom, I need to download a new game."  Who even knew what the word download meant in 1982?  Good grief.  Collin loves playing games on the Ipad or Josh's phone and he actually said this to me the other day.  I didn't even know he knew about downloading games on a device in order to play them.

10.  Being able to talk on Skype with the grandparents.  Technology is so amazing these days.  I love it that we can talk live on the computer with video and everything with our parents and even with Josh's family out in Colorado.  The boys love being able to do that!

Muffins with Mom

Yesterday at the boys' school they had "Muffins with Mom" in honor of Mother's Day coming up.  I loved spending a little extra time with my sweet boys before taking them to class.  I was the only one who ate a muffin though.  They just sat there watching me and waiting for me to finish.  I think they were more ready to get to class and see their friends. :-)  Thanks to my sis for taking our picture!

KDO Art Auction

Saturday night we went to an art auction to benefit the boys' Kids Day Out school program.  I invited the grandparents, and they met us there to have dinner, look at art to bid on and also watch Collin's class perform.  I was so excited to watch Collin sing his song with his class.  He had been practicing his song,"He's Got The Whole World In His Hands", all week and as soon as we got there he immediately went to the stage all ready to perform.  It was pretty funny,but I told him he would have to wait for his class and teachers to get ready. :-)  When it was their turn to sing, Collin went right up there, but wouldn't even sing like he had practiced.  He did do most of the motions though.  It cracked me up.
