Funny Friday!

I hope you all have had a great week.  I am so glad all that rain is behind us for now!  It's so nice to end the week with sunshine.....and the royal wedding.  Yes, I watched the royal wedding this morning.  I didn't get up like many in the wee hours of the morning.  I was glad that I dvr'd it so I could fast forward through the 6 hours of coverage I didn't care to watch every second of. :-)  Anyways, it was so sweet to watch and I am so happy for them.  I was remembering yesterday when I was a little girl and watched Princess Diana and Prince Charles get married.  I still remember it and just realized that I was only Collin's age when I watched it! Crazy.  I remember having a Princess Diana paper doll that I used to play with so much and change out all her beautiful clothes and hope someday I would marry my prince.....lucky me...I did. :-)  Anyways.....on to my "Funny Friday" post!

Collin-"Mom do you know what the last name is of thunder and lightening?.....Cumulus Nimbus"

Carter has really been trying hard to be a funny guy this week. :-)  One day all he wanted to do was hurt himself to get a laugh.  Anyways, he would yell, "Mommy, watch me!".  He would then proceed to run into a wall, fall down or slip on something and hit the wall, etc. and then say, "Zat funny?".  And I thought he was going to be my quiet, reserved child. :-)

The boys have really been into acting like tiger's this week.  They crawl around like tigers, fight like tigers, and even want to eat out of bowls like tigers (yes, I did entertain this a few times).  Anyways, one day while playing like tigers, I overheard Collin's conversation with Carter that ended like this.."Carter, your the daddy tiger and I'm the baby tiger.  I need to go out now and find a girlfriend."

The other night at dinner, I was trying to engage Collin in some conversation.  I decided to talk to him about the foods on our plate and where they come from.  I started off with potatoes.  I asked Collin, "Do you know where potatoes come from?" He just gave me a solemn, perplexed look.  I explained to him that you plant seeds in the ground and then a plant grows on top of the ground and the potatoes grow underneath the ground.  I told him that when the potatoes get big you have to go and dig them up from under the ground.  After I finished my lesson on potatoes, Collin proceeds to start laughing and says, "Mom, that's a really funny story about potatoes, but you know that they come from the store."

Silly String!!

So, the boys were watching "The Fresh Beat Band" the other day and they were squirting around silly string (they called it Kookie string?).  Anyways, the boys have been talking about it and Collin asked me if they sold "kookie string" at the store.  I told him that they did, but it was called Silly String.  Well, we went to Target today and picked some up...although now, they call it Wacky String.  The boys loved it and I think I may have got the "Cool Mom" award today. ha!

So thankful to see this today after all the rain we have been getting!



Easter Weekend 2011

We had a nice Easter weekend.  It was super rainy with lots of flooding, but we still made the most of it.  So thankful that we serve a risen Savior and that we have the ability to put all our hope in him and give him the glory for all!

We went to my parents' house on Saturday.  The boys had a big time putting on their "farm" boots and splashing around in all the puddles in the yard.  They were filthy by the time they were done, but it was so fun to watch their little carefree spirits have a great time.

 That evening we colored Easter eggs.  The boys had so much fun coloring them and then we had some stickers and pipe cleaner to turn them into little monsters.

 The boys woke up to their Easter baskets the next morning and we had an egg hunt in the house since it was raining outside.  The boys had a blast.

After church, we headed over to Mimi and Papa's.  They got the boys matching Star Wars beach towels with their names monogrammed on them.

Funny Friday!

First of all, on a serious note, I want to remember the true meaning of today, Good Friday.  So thankful for the sacrifice that my Savior made for all of us on this day.  I can never thank him enough.  How hard it must of been for God to watch his only son die and how hard it must have been for Jesus to know that today was the day that he would die upon a cross and bear the sins of the world.  I feel so unworthy of such a priceless gift.

  I love you Lord!

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon  him, and by his wounds we are healed.  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.  Isaiah 53:5-6

I decided to do a little something different this week for my "Funny Friday".  

10 THINGS I WAS UNAWARE OF 5 YEARS AGO (BEFORE 2 LITTLE BOYS)

1.  The importance of always having a spare change of clothes.....for everyone!

2.  How much time I would spend getting out stains.....boys are messy and get into anything and everything!

3.  How disgusting the areas under a highchair and car seat cushions really can get.

4.  How I never thought about the dirtiness of a shopping cart until you see your child put his mouth on it.

5.  How important it would be to know which restaurants have diaper changing stations.

6.  Silence isn't always a good thing.....especially when you have mischievous little boys.

7.  How often little boys "miss" the potty and how disgusting the bathroom floor can really get around the potty.

8.  Promising yourself you will never take your kids to "Germ City USA" a.k.a. Chuck E. Cheese, is a promise you won't keep. (yes, Josh and I finally broke that promise in February) :-)

9.  The names of all the Star Wars characters.

10.  The importance of nightly light saber wars and always making sure I lose.

Even with all this said, you know what? I wouldn't trade it for anything!  I love my two little munchkins and all the messes they create.  Messes can be cleaned up, but memories last forever.  

Eco Modern Playhouse

Josh's firm, Modus Studio, was asked to design a playhouse to be auctioned off for the CASA charity which helps children in difficult family situations by being an advocate for them.  They designed a really cool, modern looking playhouse, so the boys and I decided to go to the mall in Fayetteville last night to check it out.

Of course, since they couldn't play in the playhouses, the boys were more interested in the playgound.....

Just Like The Old Days......

 This weekend was our monthly "kid free" weekend, so we decided to spend our weekend just like we used to in our beloved Kansas City.  I can't believe it's already been 5 years since we lived there.  Time really has flown since we have been back in Arkansas.  We tried to do everything just like we used to on a normal weekend while we were up there.  It was so much fun and made us realize how much free time we used to have and how much/too much money we used to spend!  We had a great time though.  Thanks to Michael and Heidi for letting us crash at your house while you were out of town!

We started our Friday night off at our favorite little mexican restaurant with our friends Wes and Sarah.  When we arrived, we realized that our beloved Sol Azteca was no more!  Instead, this place was there.....it was good, but not as good as Sol.  Oh well...

We then decided to hit the movies down on the Plaza.  We went to see the Lincoln Lawyer which was really good.  I mainly went to it because Matthew McConaughey was in it, but it ended up being a really good movie.

The next morning we got up and wanted to go eat at our favorite little breakfast place on 39th and Southwest called "Mama's".  We used to love eating breakfast there and was so excited to experience it again...alas, just like our Sol Azteca, it was gone too.  Apparently it burned down!  I was so bummed.

After breakfast, Josh and Wes went to play golf at Dub's Dread, so I took the truck and went out and did my own thing.  I headed down to the Plaza for a little bit and then headed out west to Legends which is a awesome outlet mall.  I then headed back to the house to get ready to go out with some friends.

I drove up north and met up with our friends John and Lori.  I used to work with Lori at Gold Bank in Kansas City.  She is my die hard/season ticket holder/Chiefs fan!  Love them to pieces and it is always great to see them.  She was like a 2nd mom to me when we lived in Kansas City.  

I drove up to their house to see their recent remodel and then they showed me this new little beauty that John bought about 2 weeks ago.  A brand new 2011 Corvette.  Absolutely beautiful!  They wanted to get my picture in it so I could make Josh jealous that he wasn't there.  How could I argue with that?? :-)

After dinner, I headed back to pick Josh up and we decided to make a 10:00 run to The Cheesecake Factory.  I just had to go and get my favorite....Pineapple Upside Down Cheesecake.  The waitress tried to get me to branch out and try something different, but I have had so many different ones that I really feel this is my fave!  I had to stick with it.....so worth it. :-)

Sunday we got up and had brunch with Wes and Sarah (can't believe I didn't get a picture of them!) up at the new Briarcliff development next to the bank I used to work at.  I couldn't believe how much that area had changed!  After that we headed east to Lee's Summit to visit our friends Rob, Stacey, Kaylee and Chloe.  But first we had to stop here......

So glad we got to visit with Stacey and the girls.  I can't believe how much those two have grown!  Kaylee will be in Kindergarten this year (I was at the hospital when she was born!) and Chloe is just a few months older than Collin.  Stacey and I worked at First Bank of Missouri together when we first moved to Kansas City.  They have our dog Lexi's brother, Russ. :-)  

Meanwhile, back in Arkansas, these two little guys were getting spoiled royally by the grandparents......

Carter was at Me-Ma and Pa-Pa's.  Me-Ma sent me this picture of him enjoying some strawberries with her.

Day 6 Update-Josh Landreth

Great news! I heard from Courtney last night and she said that they are thinking Josh will be released from the hospital on Monday! We are so thankful for the progress Josh is making and the wonderful work God is doing in him. He will still have to go 3 days a week for dialysis, but it will be so wonderful for him to get home.
